“The gilded cross trend is definitely the cool thing to wear right now, ” says Brittney Boyce, celebrity nail artist and NAILS OF LA founder, nodding to Chrome Hearts’ return as inspo. “Manicures and fashion go hand-in-hand, so people are extending this aesthetic to their nails.”
Boyce describes the look as very “glamour rock meets goth, ” featuring chrome crosses and ornate goth fonts. Kourtney Kardashian is especially fond of gothic lettering, having sported the look on her nails at the Met Gala (and her beau Travis wore a matching mani).

Kardashian’s new stepdaughter Alabama Luella Barker, on the other hand (literally), has rocked the full-on chrome cross aesthetic on her fingertips. Her nails featured crosses on top of square-shaped French tips.
“Gel extensions are recommended as these designs look best on long nails, ” Boyce tells . “They’re not dainty, minimal designs — they're very bold.” There’s also no need to rock a literal cross; feel free to experiment with shapes using chrome and/or glitter.
Boyce suggests creating the look at home by using chrome toppers or metallic polish shades. “UN/DN has a Cosmos Chrome Set that mimics a chrome look when painted on top of a black polish, ” she says.

For metallics or glitter, Boyce recommends using glitter polish to outline your desired shape. “This can help achieve the look, ” she says.
As for solidifying the actual cross design, Boyce says that this is something nail artists typically freehand using a striper brush to paint with since it allows for precision.
Of course, you can always rely on the ultimate nail hack: Use cross decals or a press-on nail set to rock the trend without hitting up the salon.
